Maternity Care
All the partners undertake full antenatal and postnatal care which they share with the community midwife.
Child Health Surveillance
Baby checks at 6 weeks of age are carried out by Dr Hill every Thursday morning at Botley and every Friday morning at St. Luke’s . An appointment will be sent to you by the surgery for your baby. You should make your own appointment for your 6 week check with your doctor.
Child Immunisations and Vaccinations
Child immunisations take place with a nurse at St Lukes on Thursdays, 9am-12.00 / 2.00-3.00.
Contraception
Routine family planning appointments (for pill checks & depo provera injections) can be booked with the nurses.
If you are commencing on contraception for the first time, need to change your contraception or are new to the practice, your initial contraception will need to be prescribed by the G.P. All doctors offer contraceptive advice as part of their routine surgery.
Alternatively, Hampshire's independent sexual health service, Let's Talk About It, also offers free, independent and (of course) completely confidential advice; they will not even contact your GP without your permission. Cervical Smears
The Government recommends regular cervical smears for women between the ages of 25 and 65. A twenty minute appointment should be made with the nurse at reception. You will be notified of your result by post and will subsequently be recalled as appropriate.
Minor Surgery
Minor surgery is carried out by Dr Mayers and assisted by a Health Care Assistant on Tuesdays at St. Luke’s 12-1pm. You will first need to be seen by one of the GPs to be assessed.
Sick Notes
If you are off work due to sickness for more than 7 days you will need to see the doctor for a sick note before the 8th day of absence. For absences of less than 7 days, your employer must give you a self-certification form to complete.
Private Health Insurance, Medicals, and Certificates
If you are covered by a private health insurance (e.g. via your work) please let the doctor know.
A variety of private medical examinations, e.g. insurance medicals, HGV, PSV,pre-employment, taxi drivers and sub-aqua medicals are carried out by the partners after general surgery. A charge is made in line with the recommended BMA scale. Please ring reception to organise an appointment
A charge is made for completion of non NHS forms, e.g. health insurance claims, some travel vaccinations, holiday cancellations, fitness to travel etc. Also for private sickness certificates
